Our seasonal competition, Hear for the Holidays, was launched back in November. It gave local residents the chance to nominate someone special whom they think is deserving of hearing care.

With an overwhelming 93 nominations sent in, we were stunned by the endearing and compassionate stories behind each of them. It truly brought a tear to our eyes!

Through reading your stories sent in, we have been amazed by the goodwill and kindhearted nature of all of you, and we are so proud to call you patients of Pacific Hearing Service.

This is just one way we hoped to have given back to our communities in Menlo Park and Los Altos.

With the competition running from November 1-31, we were happy to announce the winners on December 21 as Dawn Deardoff and Danny Montilion.

Both winners were invited to the clinic to receive a comprehensive hearing assessment and a hearing aid, free of charge.

Los Altos winner, Dawn Deardoff

Dawn Deardoff

This year has been difficult for us all, but Dawn has suffered more than most; except, she didn’t let this stop her from smiling.

After enduring a vicious battle with cancer, the expensive treatment left her burdened with debt, meaning she couldn’t afford to treat her deafness in one ear and hearing loss in the other.

As a result of the pandemic, her business struggled to make it through the year, meaning her hearing loss further digressed.

Despite all of this, Dawn continued to provide meals for firefighters during the brutal fires while donating meals to the doctors and nurses at Eden Medical Center. It’s not often you find someone like Dawn, and that’s why we were so happy to reward her for all her efforts!

Dawn’s friend, Joanna, nominated her and was desperate to give her the help she so desperately deserved. As soon as we called Dawn to share the news, she burst into tears.

It was an emotional visit for us all, but we were so happy to open up a new journey for Dawn through hearing, allowing her to continue in her righteous path of helping others.

Menlo Park winner, Danny Montilion

Our competition also ran in Menlo Park and awarded Danny with state-of-the-art hearing care and a complimentary hearing aid.

His visit was filled with laughter and smiles, and this only painted the extremely kind and warmhearted gentleman he is.

It was such a pleasure meeting Danny, and we were so glad to reward him with a brand new hearing aid. Witnessing his face light up after he noticed the difference was truly amazing!
