Amanda Duren

Amanda was born and raised in Carlsbad, CA. She received her undergraduate degree from San Diego State University, majoring in speech, language, and hearing sciences. Afterwards, sheearned herdoctor of audiology degree at the University of Texas at Dallas. Amanda completed her externship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center.

It was during her undergraduate studies when she became interested in audiology. Amanda was offered two audiology classes – one about the anatomy of the auditory system and one about diagnostic audiology. She quickly fell in love with the latter course and joined an audiology research lab, where she gained hands-on experience with the equipment. Amanda could easily see herself performing hearing tests and helping patients with their hearing needs every day as a career.

At Pacific Hearing Service, Amanda’s daily responsibilities include performing comprehensive diagnostic hearing tests, fitting and managing hearing aids/cochlear implants, cerumen management, and always providing patient-centered care.

Amanda loves teaching her patients and working collaboratively with them. Whether reviewing the results of a hearing test, discussing brands of hearing aids/cochlear implants, or reviewing hearing aid maintenance, she relishes the opportunity to educate her patients on their hearing loss.

Outside of the office, Amanda enjoys cooking up an excellent meal, hiking or paddle boarding with her partner, Matt, or cuddling up and reading a book with her cat.
