Rachel Gringorten

Rachel grew up in San Jose, California. She majored in Speech and Hearing Sciences at Arizona State University and completed the Doctor of Audiology program at Northwestern University.

Rachel’s decision to work within hearing care stems from her grandfather’s experience with hearing loss. When she was in high school, her grandfather was diagnosed with hearing loss and visited an audiologist to be fitted with hearing aids. Understanding his hearing loss and having the tools to address it made a huge difference in his ability to communicate with family and friends. Rachel wanted to be the person who helps people like her grandfather fully participate in and enjoy the activities that make them happy.

During her externship year at Pacific Hearing Service, Rachel further developed and honed the clinical and professional skills needed to practice as a Doctor of Audiology. Rachel works both in the Los Altos office and offsite at various senior living communities. Her primary audiology interests include hearing aids, cochlear implants, and services for musicians, and she is always eager to continue learning and expanding her clinical knowledge.

The anatomy and physiology of the human auditory system fascinate Rachel, and she loves sharing her knowledge and passion with patients. She also loves working with a dedicated team, and she enjoys coming into the clinic each day to contribute to our positive environment and high level of patient care.

Outside of the clinic, Rachel enjoys playing the trumpet, which she has played since middle school. She also enjoys reading, drawing, and going on walks with her dog, Peaches.
