Supporting Families in Silicon Valley Through Community-Driven Projects

As audiologists, we strive to help others every day.

Recently, the Pacific Hearing Service team had the opportunity to extend our reach to the local community in Silicon Valley.

We took part in a service project to support those who are low income with food, housing, and other resources when we volunteered at the local Community Services Agency in Mountain View, CA.

Since 1957, Community Services Agency has provided social services for residents in Mountain View, Los Altos, and Los Altos Hills. They provide a safety net so independence and self-sufficiency can be restored and maintained for those who have fallen on hard times.

This includes providing food, housing assistance, emergency rental assistance, senior assistance services, senior meals, homeless services, holiday sharing, and back-to-school programs.

Volunteers are a vital component of the CSA mission. Through a combined effort, we were able to box food for distribution to families in the community, and we did some splishin’ and splashin’ to clean up pallets full of crates that they use to transport groceries!

It was a day of hard work, good laughs, and great community.

Community service is something we will always take part in wherever we can, and it was especially rewarding to participate in an initiative that helps to build sustainable paths for those in need.

Being an audiologist isn’t just about helping people hear better, it’s also supporting the community that serves us and has allowed us to continue doing what we do.

We wholeheartedly agree with Martin Luther King Jr. who famously said, “Everybody can be great because everybody can serve.”
